Building Support for Housing in Your Community

The Connecticut Department of Housing, Regional Plan Association, and partners across Connecticut recently published a guidebook to help municipalities develop their local affordable housing plans, as required by State statute § 8 – 30j: Planning for Affordability in Connecticut: Affordable Housing Plan and Process Guidebook. It outlines what should be included in an affordable housing plan, how such plans align with other documents like a Plan of Conservation and Development, and how to build support for a plan among varying audiences. Join for a conversation on how to best use the guidebook, honing in on key challenges like building broad and inclusive support for your town’s affordable housing plan by bringing your community together around common values like diversity and equity.

Speaker:

  • Melissa Kaplan-Macey, AICP, Director of State Programs and Connecticut Director for Regional Plan Association and the lead author of the guidebook
