Fairfield County is one of the most segregated places in the country with institutional racism embedded into the fabric of our land use and zoning regulations. This current reality is the legacy of a history of explicit government policies at the local, state and federal level intentionally designed to exclude Black and Brown residents from living together with white residents in our communities. The time for change is now.
National systems change expert, Dr. Tiffany Manuel, PhD, President and CEO of TheCaseMade, will review the results of in-depth research into the challenges to building public support for affordable housing in Fairfield County and present a “playbook” designed to build the public and political will to address our region’s affordable housing crisis.
